BackpackerU Explore & learn

For Parents

They’re going abroad. We’re going with them.

Your student will take college courses, explore several cities, and get to know the people traveling alongside them. Summit staff stay with the group throughout the program, coordinating the practical details and providing support day and night.

What will your student actually do?

Summit combines classes with professional and cultural visits in Europe or Brazil. Students prepare questions, explore new places, and bring what they encounter into discussions and assignments.

Depending on the program and session, students take courses in business, entrepreneurship, communication, European studies, or Portuguese and Brazilian culture.

People to turn to in every city

Our staff travel and stay with students as the program moves between cities. They help with everyday questions and travel logistics, and help arrange medical care and accompany students when needed.

Students complete a confidential medical questionnaire and receive health and safety orientation before departure and on arrival. Health insurance is included in the program fee for the full program.

Health & Safety

Housing is arranged

Summit selects shared accommodation with safety, comfort, and access to classes and activities in mind. Housing is included during the program, and students receive location, rooming, and commute details before they go.

Academic credit and the family budget

Students can earn up to 6 U.S. semester credits, depending on their program, session, and course choices. Their home university determines how those credits apply to their degree. Summit provides course materials for that review.

Housing and health insurance are included in the program fee. International airfare is separate. Scholarship opportunities and installment payment options are explained on our Financial Aid & Scholarships page.
